Frequently Asked Questions
For All Users
Is there a cost to using this directory?
There is no cost to the public (future customers, agencies, and others) coming to the Directory and making discoveries about participant companies’ capabilities.
Is there a guarantee of accuracy?
Optics Valley will work with participants to keep content both current and accurate. We review the directory regularly and require those listed to update or check their listing every six months. It is in the best interests of each company to keep the information up to date and accurate so they can best attract new customers.
How do I conduct a search other than reading through each company listing?
We have programmed the ability to use keyword pull-down menus as well as your ability to enter a keyword yourself. Once clicked, the company listings that match that keyword will be displayed.
How do I learn more about each company?
Call them! Visit their company website. And when available, view their introductory pitch.
Can I print the search list?
Company information changes over time. It does not make sense to produce glossy printable marketing materials from Optics Valley about each company. However, please feel free to print your screen results.
What information do you collect about me and how do you use it?
We do collect emails. We use this as way to help companies know who is looking for their products and services. Optics Valley does not collect any other information from you, but should you navigate to a third party (e.g., one of our listed companies) they may collect additional information.
How do I reach the company once I found one I am interested in?
Each company has contact information listed. Know that these companies want to receive your email or phone call. They all want to help solve your current optics or photonics issues and challenges.
Can I use the search results elsewhere?
The Directory is for your use alone. Content, search results, and any company listed information should not be used for any other purpose than to connect you to a solution.
How can I become a participant in the Optics Valley Resource Directory?
Please use the Contact Us button at the top of the Directory to start the process. You will need to meet our Terms and Conditions to qualify as a participant.
For Optics Valley Resource Companies
Is there a cost to using this directory?
Access to this directory is free to all users and participants.
How does this work?
Resource companies must be providers of optics and photonics technologies. Once authorized, you will designate an official point of contact (POC) for your company. The POC will log in and have the ability to enter and edit company information.
The POC will be required to keep their Directory listing up to date and should review the contents every six months, updating it whenever there are changes to the company information.
Only the POC and/or an authorized Optics Valley administrator may edit content or change display status.
What information can be put in the listings?
You will see the kinds of content fields that can be displayed by going to the Directory itself today. It is recommended that you complete all the fields in a timely manner and as content becomes available.
Content must meet professional standards. Anything less than a professional look, feel, and content can reflect poorly on the entire community. Our aspiration is that this Directory will aid in the growth and prosperity of all participating companies. To that end, Optics Valley can assist with minor editing and guidance, but otherwise, each company is expected to create their own professional content.
How do I create a company profile?
Go to the home page and click on “RESOURCE PARTICIPANTS.” A pull down menu will appear, where you will need to click on “Register.”
After you have supplied initial information, a process of company and content validations will begin, and you will receive emails along the way with instructions. In the interim, please start creating high quality marketing content in order to submit it as soon you receive notification that the validation process is complete.
